Fleetwood Mac is a British-American rock band that was first formed in London, 1967, and founded by guitarists and vocalists Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, and drummer Mick Fleetwood. They’ve found great success with hits like “The Chain,” “Silver Springs,” “Dreams,” “Go Your Own Way,” and more. While the band still performs today, different members have come and gone, with Peter and Mick being the only stable members for all 56 years of Fleetwood Mac. In fact, there have been a total of 18 members in the band, not even including those who would perform on tours. With this being said, and knowing how popular of a band they are, I wanted to answer the following questions: who made the most significant contributions to the band? More specifically, who wrote the most popular songs? Among the most well known additions to the band include third guitarist and vocalist Danny Kirwan who joined in 1968, and keyboardist and vocalist Christine Perfect, who married McVie and joined Fleetwood Mac as a full member in 1970. Additionally, in late 1974, Fleetwood Mac scouted the American folk-rock duo Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Mick Fleetwood asked Buckingham to be their new guitarist and vocalist, but Lindsey only agreed on the condition that Nicks could also join as vocalist. Personally, I have a deep love for this band as do many people around the world, and I hoped for my data visualization to pay respect to the band for their accomplishments. Today, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks, Mike Campbell, and Neil Finn make up Fleetwood Mac—Christine McVie having continued to perform with them up until her death in 2022.
